Please see our Breastfeeding page for lactation consultants and support groups serving breastfeeding moms and babes.

Visit our Doulas page to see any professional postpartum doulas listed there. Often birth doulas are also willing to provide postpartum support; give them a call and see how they might help this transition be a little easier.

Below you will find some local community resources specifically for mothers. There is also information following to help you identify whether the baby moon has slipped into the baby blues or deeper, as well as professionals who can help you navigate deep and dark waters.

Is the baby moon sliding into the baby blues?

You are not alone. You are not to blame. We are here to help. If you or someone you know might be experiencing symptoms of prenatal or postpartum mood or anxiety disorder, know that it is treatable and you have taken a very important first step. There is someone in your area who can help you if you are experiencing any of the following: depressed, irritable, exhausted, unlike yourself, sadness, anger, guilt, worry, feelings of inadequacy. This statement was adapted from postpartum.net.

The following is not meant to be a diagnostic tool, but rather a way for new mothers and their support persons to normalize their feelings and take action if they need help. Below these descriptions are names and numbers of counselors on Maui who have come highly recommended by birth professionals and parents who have used them. All of the private practitioners work on a sliding scale—don’t let money stand in the way of your mental health and well being!
